TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park
Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by our representative who will make you feel at home since this is a very important feeling for any traveler. The representative will be at your service and you can ask as many questions on whatever subject concerning your safari and more and he will assist you kindly.
After this, you will be transferred to the Akagera national park which is in the east of Rwanda. The Akagera national game park has several attractions like the Mitumba Hills, Kagera River, and several birds which you will certainly see on your way to the park.
However, unlike the rest of Rwanda which is covered in hills, the Akagera national park is typical African savannah with a number of species habiting the area. After a long day of driving and sightseeing, you will check into your hotel for the night. We shall strongly recommend the Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 2: Game drives and boat trip on Lake Ihema
You will have an early morning game drive in the park. The Akagera national park is unlike the rest of Rwanda because it lies at a lower altitude compared to the rest of the country.
You will not see the folding hills that characterize most of Rwanda but rather a maze of lakes, swamps, and marshes that surround the river Kagera throughout its course. The park is your usual African savannah grassland with tangled acacia, shrubs, and open space with vast grasslands.
This means you will see several animals from the large herbivores like buffalo, elephants, hippos, and the like to the carnivores like the lion, leopard, and hyena. The game drive will involve seeing all these animals and also the several bird species in the park. After this morning’s game drive, you will have lunch at your hotel and prepare for an afternoon canoe ride on Lake Ihema. You will return to your hotel after this activity and relax.
Day 3: Departure
You will have an early morning game drive where you will have a recap of the previous day’s events or just see those animals you might have missed on the previous day.
You will have breakfast after this game drive at the hotel or on your way back to Kigali. Depending on whether your flight is early or late you will take a tour of the city and here you will go to the market, handicraft shop visits, pottery projects, genocide museum visits, and many others. Kigali is a very well organized city and you travel through it with maximum ease. Transfer to Kigali Airport to find your departure flight.
